Adding a generic dialup modem

I have a LG LSP 345 CDMA Fixed Wireless phone, which has an integrated dialup modem in it. On the MS Windows I'm able to add it as a generic modem with the ISP's phone number and the authentication. However, Linux Fedora Core isn't finding the modem. It either gives me numeric error 2 or error 8. I have attempted to add it in /dev/ttyS0 to /dev/ttyS4. None worked. Please help. Thanks in advance

There is this article in the how to section .

http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...em_phone_Howto

He is using a different distribution but maybe it will help anyway.
There is also a discussion about the article in the forum.
