Adaptec 2940U + Booting Redhat 8 CD
Good morning,
I'm having difficulty getting my server box to boot the first RedHat 8.0 CD.
I'm receiving the following message:
ISOLINUX 1.75 2002-06-14 isolinux: Loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it...
isolinux: Failed to locate CD-ROM device; boot failed
I've seen some messages indicated that bios problems normally cause this issue.
I'm running an ABIT VP-6 motherboard, with both IDE controllers disabled, the Highpoint RAID disabled, and the USB disabled.
For internal drives, I have a CD-ROM, a CD-R, and a DVD-RAM, plus one 9 gig barracuda attached to an Adaptec 2940U controller.
I also have one QLogic QL2100F fibre channel HBA in the system with a number of fibre channel drives attached.
For the sake of the install, I've left the fibre channel drives unattached, and I've also tried fully removing the Qlogic adaptor.
Presently I have the Adaptec's BIOS enabled-- as I wish to boot to the 9 gig barracuda attached to it.
Does anyone know if the bootable CD extensions to the Adaptec 2940 series are compatibile with the boot ISO images for redhat? I've tested the boot CD on an ATA-based system and it boots up without issue.
Thanks for your help,
-Adam
