Adaptec aic7xxx driver for Redhat advanced server

Am struggling to get the driver for adaptec aix7xxx. I am not able to install redhat advanced server 2.1 on a VA Linux box having Intel L440GX+ motherboard with adaptec aic7896 SCSI controller.
Tried Redhat quarterly update DUDs and then Justin Gibbs latest aic7xxx driver. Nothing seems to work. The installation just hangs at " Loading aic7xxx driver...." and do not proceed further. Any tricks on this ?

I've got one too, I had some buggy issues with the scsi driver in 2.4.20 stock, I think my 2.4.22 build took care of it, but its been a while since I booted the thing, I'm having to hand craft my own drive cages or pay www.californiadigital.com $35 a pop for them.

Honestly, try a 2.4.22 build, stock, if that doesn't work, post back and I'll stick the 9.1Gb I've got with a 2.4.21 on it that I know will boot fine on the VA, then I'll post/mail you my .config
