what do i need to compile xfree and how to do it

i went to x.org and got all 7 tar files and un well tared them then i got into runlevel 3 and ran make World all it did was give me error and exit i really have no clue on this one i am just trying to build my box from the ground up

Download the binary version (still several tar files) and the Xinstall.sh script. It's a much much easier way of doing it.
