I have the rc2 version of Gentoo Linux loaded on my machine, I have an AMDK6-2/350Mhz processor, 256MB of Ram, GeForce 64MB AGP video card. When I do an emerge xfree I get the following errors ( after > 6 hrs of compiling ) I have gcc 3.2 also.
well try and install gtk-1.2 i'm not used to portage at all, but assuming it's as similar to bsd ports as i believe, go to /var/tmp/portage/gtk+-1.2.10-r9, run "make clean" and try to install that package again. if it fails i guess that there should be methods to use alternative packages... maybe there's a newer version of gtk1.2 in the cvs portage tree?
Thanks for the idea, I'm new to portage myself, I updated the portage tree before I did the build, so the .10-r9 should be the "latest and greatest" stable gtk1.2 release. I'll try the "make clean" tonight and see what happens.
