Question UK Broadband ISP

Hey...

Just wanted to kinda get a feeling from other UK users on which supplier's product/service has proved the most:
  • Linux friendly (or is that an oxymoron?)
  • easy to configure
  • reliable

I only have access to either BT or Telewest, but other people's opinions or experiences would prove extremely useful to me.

Thanks,

Kaine.

I have been with NTL. I used a broadband router with NAT to set-up my internal network.

As far as Linux was concerned, there were no problems as it was just getting a DHCP assigned IP for my internal network.

Had no problems with over a years worth of broadband feed.

ADSL via a BT line, ISP is Pipex. I use an ADSL Modem/Router all in one. Very easy to set up. Very reliable. £19-95 plus vat a month for 512k.

I have used Nildram and NTL.

Both work absolutely great.

Unfortunately though you will never find support for Linux issues though.

TBH you shouldn't have any problems whichever ISP you use.

http://www.uklinuxadsl.net

Not used them since I don't have (and probably can't get) an adsl connection, but I would have though they would support Linux

NTL.

I have a NTL 1meg cable connection going through a Netgear RP114 web safe routers. This is set to static IPs with some port forwarding.

On this I have 2 Linux pcs and 2 win2k pcs. In the year that I have had NTL I have only had one problem which affected my whole connection.

On calling NTL, the person the other end did admit he had no knowledge of linux but was happy to run through the settings as long as I knew where to look on the linux box.

As it turned out someone had disabled my account instead of someone elses with nearly the same name as me. They re-enabled my account and gave a months free broadband as an apology and everything works again.

just my little bit.

Thank you all so far for your contributions; all help to build a better picture for me before making a decision.

*this is nothing more than an excuse to offer my 30th post and lose the n00bness*
