starting in text mode

When I start my computer it is going through the boot process and then localhost login comes up.... why isn't it going straight to me desktop like it was... if i type "kde" it will then take me to my KDE desktop... but i want it to go straight to it like it was.... what's up?

Open /etc/inittab and see what the runlevel is it's starting at. You need to change the number it is at to the number that sets it to gui startup. There is an explanation of the numbers in the file.

open /etc/inittab and change your run level from 3 to 5
id:3:initdefault: (from 3 to 5)
