Question Source code for init?

"init" Uses the libc.o and ld-linux.so libraries.

I'd like to create a boot disk using libraries other than the GCC ones.
Init doesn't run with these other libraries though.
Obviously because it was compiled with the gcc libs.

I was looking around on my linux CD's for the source code for "init" so I can recompile it with the other libraries, but I can't find it.
I also "surf-searched" a bit for it with no luck.

Can anyone help?
Am I on the right track, wanting to recompile?
Do you know where I can get the latest init code?
Is there a dedicated site with all the linux apps source code?
Like mount, ls, init, etc.???

I have found other rpm's on my linux CD's before with code I was looking for, but the problem there is it's always under some sort of different project name.

So, I won't be surprised if it's all on my CD's.
Errr... where, is the question???

init is part of the sysvinit package which you can download at
ftp://ftp.cistron.nl/pub/people/miquels/sysvinit

And yes you should definetly recompile it if it's using a different library.

You should really read the LFS book at www.linuxfromscratch.org
It explains how to build each package that a basic linux system would need. Might be usefull for building a specific floppy distro from scratch with a different libc.
Reading the book and building several LFS system has really taught me a lot about how it all fits together.
