The isolinux is used as the bootloader for vmlinuz. It also contains the options for the five function keys. I removed all but the linux (default) option and made a boot disk. However, the boot menu is still displayed because it is also in the binary init file, which you can see by using the strings command on it.
As I understand it, the boot CD first boots isolinux, which is totally controlled by isolinux.cfg. Subsequently it loads the initrd, which runs init. init displays the boot prompt and information messages from the boot CD and finally loads and is replaced by the Linux on the USB or IEEE-1394 hard drive.
I have edited the isolinux.cfg and removed the boot prompt code and that part works well. My problem is when init runs, the boot fails. Therefore, I need something of which I am not aware in the init file.
