I have just built a new system with the Asus K8V VIA K8T800
All works well, I even have the onboard sound working.
This is installed in a dual-boot SuSE 9.1 and XP Pro. PC.
The issue I am having is that the sound works, nice and clean no crackling, but it low. By low I mean that with all the sound volumes turned all the way up, it is only at about 1/8 of what it should be.
On XP it works perfectly. So I do not think it is a MB or BIOS issue.
You may want to check your alsamixer, and see what the settings are like in there. Just go to konsole and type "alsamixer". Change any of the volume setings there, if need, and after, press <Esc> to exit it.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
