Hearing a lot about scripts i thought i would check it out last night and aren't they cool as well as useful.
So i wrote just a simple script for ejecting my dvdrom and it works in my home folder, so i want to see now if i can get it to do the same when i shut my computer down. Can anyone tell where I need to put this file or to some good links with helpful information. This is really only for educational purposes.
iirc the shutdown is sctipt is rc.6 (think thats under redhat) or under rc.d/shutdown. if you just edit either of these and add the script at the beginning of the file it will eject the dvdrom drive before shutting the system down.
Sorry should have said which OS i was using, mdk 9.1. Got it to work just had to put it in the rc0.d folder, thats the one for shutdown. rc6.d is for reboot, which is good all so.
