Unhappy no dvdrom..?

I've got a problem in slack, it doesn't find my dvdrom... I have no clue to how to get slack to find it. I ran redhat before (just installed slack a couple of days ago) and it found the dvdrom automaticly, any suggestions to how to get my sweet linux computer to find the dvd?

does it install correctly off the dvd/cdrom?
are you using a default slack kernel, or custum?
what system type (ie motherboard, dvd make/model)?

and any information on things you may have tried..
