no sure what I did here....
I was logged in to kde using root.
I then did a switch user to another user.
Somewhere along the way while logged in as the normal user I loaded yast, but it required an su, so I obliged, but instead of loading yast in su mode where I was, it essentially opened a new kde session with yast open on what appears to be a blank desktop.
I now cannot get back into KDE as root.
Whenever I try to log into kde as root now all I get is the yast main menu maximized on the screen. all I can do is exit out of it, and when I do it exits me out of kde also and I find myself at the command prompt...even though I boot into KDE and there is a session running of KDE with a normal user.....
the wallpaper on the desktop is not the wallpaper I have selected for root and there are no panels or icons on the desktop at all....so it doesnt look like KDE loaded properly but rather it looks like the login manager for KDE decided to just run yast, with no user desktop, instead of logging in root.
If I run init 3 from a terminal window while logged in as a normal user, and then log in as root at the command prompt and type startx, I get to my normal root desktop for KDE.....
any ideas?
