Hello all,
I am running debian etch and I don't have sound after a reboot.
So everytime I have to remove the red crosses in gnome-volume-control, and then it works fine again, (until the next reboot).
If you're using gnome, then it's a gnome issue. Go to Desktop->Preferences->Sessions and save the current session (after you've set your sound, of course). You might want to just set it to always set your sessions preferences when you logoff. If it's KDE, then I dunno.
If it's kde then open the mixer thinggy (kmix) and go in configuration and untick restore settings on boot
Otherwise, alsactl will restore its level and when kde wakes up will also restore its level.
And then it's a big mess..
Better only let alsactl do the job in /etc/init.d. It will run without Window Manager and will work for all.
First I ve tried the gnome thing from Quakeboy02 but that did not help.
Then I installed alsa-utils and did the alsactl thing and now he remembers !
Thank you all :-)
