I installed Rebecca mate version on a second hd. The first has LM cinnamon on it. I have sound on the one disk , no sound on mate. I have checked all the sound programs for a sign that I am muted but such is not the case. Everything as far as sound devices show the same three devices listed in cinammon but nothing. Help !

I noticed I have no files asound.conf or asoundrc. I have variations of asound.conf( oss & jack)

Try removing or renaming the variation of asound.conf file.
