No module mptbase found for kernel 2.6.1
Ok I am usually very stubborn when it comes to asking for help, but I am really stuck now. I recently upgraded my RH 9.0 to Fedora Core 1 (actually I think it was a downgrade, but anyway)
I am attempting to install the latest Kernel 2.6.1.
Here are the commands:
make defconfig
make
make modules // already made the /lib/modules/2.6.1 directory
make modules_install
make install // now i get screwed....
[root@localhost linux-2.6.1]# make install
make[1]: `arch/i386/kernel/asm-offsets.s' is up to date.
CHK include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h

**** I guess this could be from the current setup so I ran:
[root@localhost linux-2.6.1]# lsmod | grep mpt
mptscsih 39408 3
mptbase 42944 3 [mptscsih]
scsi_mod 108104 5 [sg sr_mod ide-scsi mptscsih sd_mod]
[root@localhost linux-2.6.1]#
[root@localhost linux-2.6.1]# uname -a
Linux localhost 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl #1 Wed Oct 29 15:42:51 EST 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@localhost linux-2.6.1]# depmod -V
depmod version 2.4.25
Ok what am I doing wrong? I forget the command to output the whole system stuff so I'm sure you'll remind me. The system is completely SCSI though.
Thanks in advance for the help!!!
