you're gonna need to provide a little more information than that. what kind of mouse are you using? how is it connected to your machine? what are the input device lines in your XF86Config file for your mouse? i would do the following:
- make sure you're using the right protocol (IMPS/2, PS/2, etc...)
- make sure X is loading the correct device (usually /dev/mouse or /dev/psaux for normal ps/2 mice)
- make sure your mouse even works... x usually won't startup if it can't load the mouse you specified
