midi device

what does my user need permissions to in able to play MIDI files? I can play ogg's/mp3's/etc in XMMS, but KMIDI reports 'unable to open device'. I looked for a /dev/midi, but didn't see one.

Does your soundcard support's midi? If it doesn't will be necessary to emulate this support with timidity or similars ...

With oss, is necessary to up a module, look at the I/O's from your card with:

# lspci -v

And put the line:

options opl3 io=<address of chip>

and execute:

# modprobe opl3
