Linux consoles


I tried to install a UML in my pc.I installed it.When i tried to attache the UML console to the host console I was really confused of the options given.It says I can connect in two ways by specifying con(console line) and serial line(SSL).
I am not so clear in Linux consoles teminologies like ptys ,ttys,console.can Any one plz explain it.Sorry for asking qns like this.

tty0 is the first console. Are you trying from GUI or from text mode?

You can view the current list of active consoles by 'ps -a' and then select one from it.
