KDE sound on start up too loud

I find nothing concerning this:

1st: my sound works fine

I'm using the alsa driver from kernel 2.6.12 and kde 3.42 with arts running.

Every systemsound plays fine except the sound on "KDE ist starting up". This one is far too loud as if it is ignoring all settings done with alsamixer & Co.

Using an alternativ player to play the kde systemsounds this problem does not appear. So it seems to me that arts has some special settings for playing his kde start up event.

Anyone knows this?

Well, in KDE 3.3.2 it's found in Control Center > Sound and Multimedia > KDE System Notifications > Player Settings. Should be similar in later versions.

You can also use the settings from the command "xaumix". but i think this won't really work since this would affect the whole system sound.

Well,

the player-settings in control center are still with my Version 3.4.2, but they affect all systemsounds.

My problem:

The kde start up sound is too loud and don't seem to care about the settings made with kmix, alsamixer or done in the control center in the player settings for the systemsounds.

Mayby the only solution is to switch of the sound for this event....
