KDE carddecks

I'm using KDE 3.0 and I was just wondering if anybody knows how I can add new card decks to use in games like kpoker. I would like to make my own using images on my hard drive.

Can anybody tell me how I would go about this?

Thanks.

It doesn't appear that you can from the settings.

If you really want you can hack the C++ source...

How much do you really want to change those cards

I was worried it would be something like that. I was hoping that the cards were just stored as images somewhere and I could get around it by renaming them. Anyway you're right, I dont want to do it THAT badly. Thanks for the help though.

You are probably right, but then you need to search for where kde keeps the cards, and you will have to lose one of the decks (because you changed it....)

What you would need to do I think, is replace the images of one of the decks with your own, which may be as complicated as modifying the source....

perhaps contact the developer(s) of kpoker for advice/help

C8H10N4O2 are you into casino gaming or do you just enjoy hacking KDE?

It’s both really. I enjoy the casino style games and like to customise my desktop. The problem is that my programming skills are very limited at the moment (but rapidly improving).

I searched for anything I could think of to find the card deck images, but I wasn’t very successful. Anyway I think I’ll do as you suggested and contact the developers.

Thanks a lot.

I was doing some snooping around and I found this directory:

/usr/share/apps/carddecks

I didn't try replacing some of the images but it looks promising.

Hey it works!

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it. I don't know how I missed that directory in my search, but i did.

Anyway if anyone's wondering I just chose a deck that I wouldn't miss if I screwed up, renamed it's image to some temporary name. Then I added a new image I made with gimp, and gave it as the decks correct name. Open up kpoker, or any of the KDE card games and there it is. You want to change back, its as simple as renaming the files back to how they were origionally.

I haven't tried adding new decks without removing others yet, But I don't think it should be too difficult.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
