I need help!

I am having problems recieving a DHCP connection from my router. I'm using SUSE 8.0. I am also using a cable modem with Insight Communications. When i connect my computer directly to the cable modem i don't have any problems. But when i connect to my Linksys rounter i receive the following error in my XConsole when i "ifdown eth0" and "ifup eth0" :

DHCP_NAK Server response recieved
and
timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response

Could someone please help me!!?

edited: thread title. lets try to make more helpful thread titles as anyone here asking a question usually needs help and a generic i need help doesn't help other members determine your problem when browsing the site. thanks.

And for your problem, have you tried to restart the DHCPD daemon ?? What kind of NIC are you using and what do you get on the output of ifconfig ?

Also, if you have any other machines on this router, do they connect at all ??

trickykid,

thanks for changing my title.

ifconfig only gives me the local info for the NIC.
The NIC is integrated within my motherboard and is an SIS.

Al other windows computers on my router connect just fine.

How do i restart my DHCP daemon?

Thanks for the help.

I've used yast before.
which setting do you think i should change?
I've tried changing to an static ip address and just entering in the gateway that my windows computers are recieving. if i do this i am able to view the router configuration menu. if i use dhcp then i can't even ping the router.

Unfortunately, I never succeeded installing SuSE 8 with Linksys router. Wasted hours hunting down solutions on newsgroups and suse site. No dice. I gave it up and switched to RH.
