This thread had been closed for EIGHT YEARS...do not reopen old threads, unless you have something to contribute to the original question or conversation.
Do not hijack threads with your own questions
Open your own thread for your own question; no one is going to see your question in an eight-year old thread
SuSE Enterprise 9 is ANCIENT, and has been end-of-life/unsupported for some time now. The last time it was even patched was seven years ago. Load the latest version of SLES if you're going to use it. Also, if you're using SLES, that means you are paying for support from SuSE...have you contacted them for help??
Looks like he searched for the right place to put the question, put it in a relevant thread where no answer was given, and renewed the discussion for anyone that still has to deal with Suse 9 while keeping the information and discussion in one place.
I'd say he did very well for a first time poster. More effort than most put into it eh?
Also, there is no rule regarding reviving necro posts, and its hardly highjacking a thread when its 8 years old. I mean, I dont think it is -- perhaps thats just a subjective defenition? Unsure.

Le questione se, is the "necro" thread directly relevant to the reviver's particular situation? If so, it might be appropriate. But one of the reasons for not opening the cemetery is that the information in an old thread probably is no longer relevant, and it's very confusing to be presented with something that's just no longer relevant. You might easily fail to notice that the thread is eight years old.
I prefer to see people open a new thread, perhaps with a link to other thread-URLs that they have also considered in their search for an answer. "Here's my question, and I was looking at this, or that, and it didn't seem to help ..."
Moved related posts to a new thread. I agree that posting to a necro thread without contributing is a violation of the LQ Rules ;
