Hi

I am running out of space on my / partition. I have checked and /tmp is empty (well almost). I have about 8GB of free space (unpartitoned) on the hard disk, and I suppose I want to use 4GB of that.

At the moment, /home is on a seperate partition and everything else is on the / one. Can I move /usr to a new 4GB partiton safely?

If so how?

Thanks

Mike

make & format the partiton, copy /usr's contents to it, then mount it to /usr, then put an entry for it in fstab.

Thanks,

So far I have created the partition, formatted it, and mounted it under /mnt/tmp and I am copying across the contents of /usr to it.

Once thats done, I just need to mount /dev/hdb9 (the partition to) /usr.
