Are you talking about just running perl scripts on your machine? Or do you mean using perl scripts in combination with apache?

For the first it should just be a matter of installing the right rpm's. For the second you might want to read the following to get it configured:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/howto/cgi.html

Linux loves Perl as far as I know(I do) As far as I know, Linux should come with perl, what distro are you using? look in /usr/bin for perl. Mandrake should come with perl.

Ye what distro are us using?
I've used Perl on plenty of Linux distros,
Here's a few things to try at the command line:
"which perl" will tell you if & where it's installed, if it comes back with something like /usr/bin/perl your in business.
If you do have Perl installed have you made sure your perl script is executable, ie "chmod 755 your_script"

If PHP works I'd be very surprised if Perl wasnt already installed, your probably missing something else.

i just don't understand it......here are some tests i did
as localhost i went here:
localhost/cgi-bin/printenv
and it DID work, printenv is a perl file and it did work

i went on my other computer (which has different IP so it's connecting from outside the network)
http://shawnserver.d2g.com/printenv
and this DOES work

localhost/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl
says it stalled

http://shawnserver.d2g.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl
internal server error

when i run this thing in CONSOLE with the command "perl ./YaBB.pl" it prints out all the HTML code for what SEEMS to be what should be shown, i don't get it!

also, i just downloaded and tried to setup Ikonboard.....STILL it gets internal server errors when trying to run installer.cgi
i did the command:
chmod 755 -R /var/www/cgi-bin/ikonboard
i went to installer.cgi and checked the properties....yep, everybody can exec it. does anybody have any idea why Perl just doesn't work?
i read the apache manual and everything it said to do is what i have.
