console help

hi,
I was trying to install the rpm file: freetype-2.1.3-6.i386.rpm and one of the required dependencies is: /bin/sh. The file is a link to the executable bash file within the bin directory. And aside from that I had to use the GUI because when I tired to open up another console it would exit with status 127.
Please any help will be greatly appreciated.
thank you.
