it's been awhile since i have burned a distro. I was able to successfully burn mandrake. I used nero to do it. From what i remember the only thing special i had to do was make sure to burn it using disc-at-once. I was unsuccessful this time and was wondering if anyone knew if there was any other option i had to select/deselect for it to work. thanks.
i understand that. When you make the cd correctly it should show up on the cd as directories right? When i tried it last it came up as the file i downloaded.
usually, yeah, but images can have other things that directories...
you're right, if the file is on the cd, that is exactly wrong...
i usually tell people to act like you're doing a cd-copy job, and direct the source to the image file... seems to be semi-global on the big cd burning software providers. do not do a "data job", and add the file!
thanks the first two disc came out find. While on the subject my friend downloaded the same distro files. Could i make exact copies of the cds i burned for him? Or would i have to do the same procedure over?
I found out it's best to select a slow speed to burn ISO images. I burned some faulty ones, read about that, tried at 4x speed, and they turned out perfect at the slow speed. It seems other kinds of data CD's can tolerate a certain number of errors but ISO images need to be burned error-free...

You should be able to clone the cd using CloneCD or K3B and have an exact duplicate of the original.
It won't do any good to just copy it because of the immage file that makes it bootable. You'll need to clone it.
