Thumbs up A question about md5sum

As we know, md5sum is a utility to check a file's integrity. Is the utility independent on architecture, regardless of x86, ppc or others? Just want to confirm the issue with you guys.

Thanks!

Thumbs up

For the same file, on any platform, md5sum should get the same ciphering, shouldn't it?

i would imagine so, but i really dont know anything about it. the link i posted above would be a good reference.

since the checksum is really just all about the file, it shouldnt matter what operating system im running, or what architecture im on.

I think that is pretty logical. Isos have one md5sum to check against. Whether you download them to windows, Linux, Solaris, etc. - it's the same for all .
