md5sum question

If I wanted to md5sum just some text, i would normally type

root@digital:~$ md5sum
text
<ctrl D>
e1cbb0c3879af8347246f12c559a86b5 -
root@digital:~$

How can I type that all as one command? (like with 'for loops' you can use ; to run it all on one line)

That is only one command... 'md5sum'.

If you are looking to supply the text on the command line, try:
Code:
echo text | md5sum
