No sound in snes9x

installed snes9x and tried playing a game but there was no sound any advice is appreciated

LOL no. You don't use ZSNES ever. It hasn't been updated in, like, a decade, it doesn't support 64-bit builds (which obviously cancels out any of its performance advantages), and it famously doesn't emulate the intro to Ocarina of Time properly.

I would use bsnes or Higan, either as themselves, or as RetroArch cores.

The problem is there is no sound... no mentioned he need 3D or support asic soundcards... Try zsnes (very good) if there is no sound you have a problem with your sound interface. What linux do you have ?
