mp3c doesn't make mp3's

Hello anyone,

I'm ripping my cd's so I can play them on my computer with mp3c, but mp3c only creates .ogg-files. This makes it impossible to play them on a windows-computer. How do I make real mp3's with mp3c?

Stargazer

PS sorry for posting this question on the wrong forum, how do I move it?

Actually, many Windows players have ogg support, Winamp among them.

If you want mp3 files, however, you need to install an mp3 encoder (maybe mp3c came with one) such as LAME. All reports I've read have LAME as the best mp3 encoder going.

I've never used mp3c. I have, however, used grip- just set it up last night. It's a very good frontend for cdparanoia and LAME - worked for me without a hitch, added ID3 tags, and conformed to my complicated music directory structure. I'd recommend it.
