I can start flightgear from the kmenu but not from the command line. The commant 'runfgfs --option --option' gets me a 'command not found' message. How come? I've tried many differant options and I always get the same message. Hmmmmm! I'd like to try some options but I can't unless I can use the command line...right?

I see referances to a /FlightGear directory. I don't see one. Is my problem maybe in the differance between a RPM and a program I need to build and install manually?

try to locate where is the fgfs command (usually in /usr/games/fgfs)

Then u can do /path/to/fgfs and the options

I got it going by using 'fgfs' instead of 'runfgfs'.

New question... The version I downloaded and am using was a RPM. Now I have downloaded scenery in the form of a tarball. So, assuming I compile it properly (if that is the term) will it be compatable with the RPM base package? Or would the base need to come from a tarball? I guess another way of asking would be to say, is a tarball the same thing as a RPM, after it is compiled?

I suggest you to install midnight commander.
Then type in a terminal: "mc".
Watch the structure of the /dirs
Look inside /usr
In /usr/games you can find fgfs. With the pull down menues of mc you can see, in the other hand, the permission of this file. Because it's executable have green collor.
If u come back where is the fligthgear.rpm and press enter over the file you can see that it have an structure inside it. There u can see where will go "Atlas, Scenario, data", etc when you install it. Then, as u have been yet installed the package you can find inside 'your' /usr/share/games/Flightgear/data the same
Well: when you press enter over the news tarballs you can find differents Scenery. Puts its manually inside the above dirs
