Okay, I have this problem with FLAC and XMMS. This is on my LFS installation.
Okay here is the problem. If I install the FLAC libraries, and then try to open XMMS, it crashes.

(posted the error, just in case it is of any use)
But if I remove the FLAC Input plugins, xmms opens properly without incident.
BMP does the same thing if I copy the FLAC Input plugins to the BMP Input directory (crashes, and problem goes away if I delete the plugins).
This is big problem for me since I have a handful of FLAC encoded music files, and I can't listen to them as a result of this bug.
I initially thought it was an incompaitibility with ALSA, switched XMMS' output driver to OSS, and reinstalled the FLAC Input plugin for XMMS, didn't work. Still crashes.
Works fine on my Gentoo installation though...
Thanks in Advanced.
EDIT: It seems FLAC v 1.1.2 causes this issue.
installing v 1.1.1 doesn't have this issue.
EDIT #2: And naturally FLAC 1.1.2 needs patches to fix these issues.
