It seems that it would take alot of work, lots of files would need upgrading.

You may be better off backing up your data files & config files and start over with a fresh install of version 9. If you had your /home directory on a separate partition would help!

thanks for the reply..... I was thinking about backing up everything like you mention and then installing full RH9 from there.

If I have /home/ on a seperate mount point, how could I use this as a benefit? So, the installation will not look at /home/ ?

can I just unmount it durring installation.... or leave it mounted?

Any more suggestions?

Thanks,
package

If you have /home on a separate partition, anytime you reformat the other partitons or install a new version, you can use the same /home partition without loosing your personal files.

ah, I see, so you can just select that same /home/ and not format it... keep the data right into your next installation.

Thanks.
