Question SuSE 8.2 install problems

I need some help with installing SuSE 8.2..or rather suggestions.
I have installed distro's such as Gentoo before so I'm not quite a newbie.
I downloaded the entire 8.2 directory structure from the French HTTP mirror from the SuSE website (behind a company proxy that doesn't allow FTP).
Now..I also downloaded the boot ISO from linuxiso.org. Once I had all my stuff together I used a machine on the company network as a HTTP server, stuck the files on there and then used the boot CD on another machine on the network.
Chose to do a manual install, loaded the network card fine, and then chose to install from a HTTP server. Still all fine..managed to connect to the computer etc. Then when it asked for the source directory, I put it in. The first time I got the directory wrong..and promptly the installer told me so. But the second time when I inputted it in correctly, it did nothing! It just went back to the screen asking where I would like to install from. No error messages or anything.
This morning I tried copying all the files to the installation machine on an NTFS filesystem, mounted the NTFS filesystem in the setup, tried installing from the harddisk..and again..nothing!
Has anyone else had this? Or can anyone offer any suggestions?
Help would be greatly appreciated
Timmy

Well, since your company has a proxy that doesnt allow ftp.. its quite possible they also have a proxy or firewall blocking suse from finding the files on the computer you set up as an http server... And as far as installing from files on the hard drive on the computer your trying to install on.. that's a no no. Its just not gonna happen.

i am trying to do this myself at work inside our companies firewall. i downloaded the 8.2 directory from an ftp site and hav ethe files on a linux box. according to suse you have to export the files to an NFS share. it can be done on a windoes smb share also. i am learning how to setup an NFS and use SMB on linux so this is a great learning experience for me. i have 8.2 installed at home but would like it at work as well. hopefully i can get somewhere tomorrow and i will follow up on this thread with my progress

good luck!
