If it installed CD1 alright and hangs on CD2, kinda sounds like a bad CD...?

If you downloaded and burned it yourself, first, check the MD5 on the .iso image you downloaded to ensure it is the same as the one posted on the download site. There are freeware MD5 sum utilities out there for both Windoze and Linux.

If the MD5 of the .iso is OK, then try re-burning the image, but restrict the burn speed to something like 4x. Lower speeds seem to give more reliable burns (don't ask... I don't know the technical explanation).

If you paid good money for the CD's... return to vendor?

Don't now if any of that helps,
Timothy.

yeah actually my dad bought it from best buy today im trying to install it on his laptop.. I tried just doing a complete reinstall and now on disc 1 a package fails to install.. its weird because sometimes packages will fail and sometimes they wont. His laptop isnt out of date or anything so I dont understand what the problem could be.

That sounds like the CD's may have some issues. I've had similar symtoms with CD's I've burned myself... at high speed

Is it boxed Suse Linux, or a cloned copy?

It sounds like treating the symptoms and not the cause, but you could try copying the bought CD's on another machine, then try installing from the copies. The other option if you have broadband is to download the .iso images and burn them yourself.

Another thought:

Try doing a "Safe Install" and see how that works...
