Problems with running Morphix from hard disk
I have just installed Morphix (0.3-5) on my PC at home and am starting to get it working. I was pleased when I managed to boot it from GRUB, but I still have some problems with which I need help:
1. WHen I installed it I created a user (david) but when I try to log on as david the screen goes blank, then green and then ends up at the login prompt. I added a new user (david1) via useradd but get exactly the same symptom. However, root can log in without any problems. It's not a password problem as that generates a warning message.
2. I have a Swedish keyboard but the system is set up for an English one. I tried running install-keymap sw (and install-keymap sv) but received the error message:
findkeymap: No such file or directory
cannot open file sw
3. I have not been able to mount a cd. A bit silly really as I installed it from the live CD! When I write mount /dev/cdrom (or mount /cdrom) I get the error message:
mount /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device. I have tried with a couple of cDs but get the same result each time. The line in fstab is:
/dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0
4. I also have a zip drive but cannot mount that either. I haven't given up on this one yet, but any suggestions are welcome!
In case you're wondering why I'm not using the latest version of Morphix it is because I only have a modem connection. The version of Morphix I am using came on a CD from a magazine.
Hope someone can help
David
