Question EN-Simplified CHinese on RedHat AS 2.1

HI..

I had installed RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 with both English and Simplified Chinese language selected during installation.
I could not read any chinese charcters (which i created at windows box and ftp into this linux box) correctly.

It shows somthing like this:
化文字

始吗

This is what i get when i issue locale command in shell:

LANG=zh_CN
LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.GB2312
LC_NUMERIC="zh_CN"
LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8
LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8
LC_PAPER="zh_CN"
LC_NAME="zh_CN"
LC_ADDRESS="zh_CN"
LC_TELEPHONE="zh_CN"
LC_MEASUREMENT="zh_CN"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="zh_CN"
LC_ALL=

Could some one show me how to enable Linux to view chinese characters in RedHat AS 2.1? I had read some doc regarding setting .i18n in /etc/sysconfig and ~/ but it does not really help.

I had configured the as the follwing:
In /etc/sysconfig/i18n:
LANG="zh_CN"
SUPPORTED="zh_CN.GB2312:zh_CN:zh:en_US:en"
SYSFONT="lat0-sun16"
#SYSFONTACM="iso01"
SYSFONTACM="iso15"

In ~/.i18n:
LC_CTYPE="zh_CN.GB2312"
LC_NUMBERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"

Pls helps... is urgent.

Regards,
Cekcool
