Slackware starts with sendmail. I think Gentoo might also have it. Shilo's Slackware page has a very
quick setup guide for sendmail. (note: whatever you do, if you use Shilo's page, do not install swaret!)
It's probably not very secure, and not suitable for a professional web server, but if your friend is just hoping to run a webserver at home this could be just the thing.
