I only have a windows boot floopy. Can I somehow install debian through my DSL? Seems possible. Never had DSL when doing an install before. I'd rather not deal with jigdo from Windoze just to get iso's
I'm off to RTFM. If you have any hints please let me know. I'll post what I find.
You will need a boot disk - I'd suggest grabbing the first iso from the website (as far as I know, you need more than a Win boot floppy, more even than a Linux boot floppy). The rest of the install can be done through your DSL - it's pretty quick.
from installing debian, I got the basic image burned to cd and then when I booted and installed that, debian downloaded the packages from the web that I selected.
I recently did a network install with just the Debian floppies.
You will need the Rescue, Root, and Modules (or driver or whatever they call them).
Worked great after a little work with the correct configuration (read: a couple days, restarting the install over and over until I got it right).
Good Luck.
I did a RH8 install on the last machine I got from the disks. Moving to debian on my latest machine cause I wasn't happy with a lot of RH8's configuration for the things I need.
Anyhow I'm pretty nervous cause I don't have a lot of time to bang my head on the wall.
