New Debian Install - No Network Config
Hello all,
I just installed Debian on my system. I finally was able to configure the X-server correctly this time. But now that I’ve got the GUI working, my network config isn’t set up at all. This is my first attempt at an advanced distro. I’ve used Slackware, but it was so much easier than Debian to install. And by saying easier, I mean more automated.
All, I wanted from this PC was to use it as a file and print server. I chose those packages during install, but was never asked during install to configure a network. I chose only a few of the packages in the first section to keep the hard drive space maximized as much as possible, while still using a GUI. I also chose not to install “Debian Jr.” (what is that by the way?).
I checked my /etc directory for the resolv.conf file, but it was missing. I added it to the /etc dir and input my nameservers. Still no network though. HELP! ;o)
