konsole comes up with wrong sixe

When I open up a konsole the first column (left most) is cut off. Is there a way to adjust the position and size of the konsole dialog.

Dragging the dialog does NOT correct the problem.

I must say, I've not encountered this in over a decade of using Linux with any terminal emulator. I have no answers, just a couple of questions and an idea for testing.

When you say, "wrong size," do you mean that the left edge of the konsole window is truncated by the side of the monitor screen, or that the konsole window itself is failing to display column one? If it's the latter, what happens when you hit enter--does it then go back to column one?

Does this happen with other terminal emulators (xterm or rxvt or whatever others might be available on your system)?

You could also try starting konsole from the command line. Admittedly, this is a long shot, but it might throw some kind of useful error message.

Here's another idea for testing: Create a new user, then log in as new user and test konsole. If the problem does not occur for new user, it could be that something in your hidden dot-configuration files has gone awry. If it happens for new user, clearly something larger is going on, but what, I'd hesitate to guess at this point.

This is intriguing. Let us know what happens.
