KDE: sound system: error while initializing sound driver
I have installed ALSA and ran alsaconf, which correctly found my soundcard. ALi-something. It says success and alsamixer is also running.
But when I tell Sound System to use ALSA, it gives error:
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
I tried googling it but cant get anything useful. Maybe /dev/snd is required but not created. Anyway I m a noob and google isnt helping much. Tell me if I need 2 give any more info.
