installing windoze apps using wine

I'm trying to install Lotus Smart Suite on my Kubuntu box using wine. The install fails because linux doesn't use the infernal registry that windoze does. Is there a workaround anybody is aware of?

Thanks.

It does have the registry in wine, the link to winehq below would be a good starting point.

Yes, wine does use a registry that should mimic windows.

You should not need to edit the registry.

Maybe we ought to start with exactly which version of SmartSuite you have and exactly how you tried to install it?

wine installs a version of "regedit.exe"
to edit the wine version of the " MS system registry "

How are you trying to install it ???

please be very specific on the commands you are using
also dose wine really work ?
in the menu there should be a listing for wine and the "c" drive
and to open the windows explorer to view that "fake" c drive

If you go to winehq.org and search for Lotus Smart Suite, you can fin information. One person says
Quote:
Before you can install the Lotus Smartsuite 9.8 it is necessary to install a database driver for Windows.
I installed the MySQL ODBC Connector for Windows. This program can be downloaded from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc
I use Lotus Wordpro, Lotus Approach and sometimes Lotus123.
I consider this applications to be useable with wine.
