I have got a complained regarding dual display problem since i have attempted to configure through nvidia-settings though it not worked because i get only few options on that. Hence i have been to reinstall the nvidia package but it also failed and
displaying the below error
Your post is lacking essential information:
1. Which version of Red Hat?
2. Which graphics hardware?
3. Which driver (packed as RPM or the binary installer from NVidia) in which version?
Redhat version : Redhat Enterprise Linux WS release 3 (Taroon update 4)
Driver in SRBC 26: NVIDIA-LINUX-x86_64-1.0-7664-pkg2.run
Nvidia card model : Quadro fx p171
Bios version of Nvidia : 4.35.20.23.07
p/n : 900-50171-0400-0000K
600-50171-0002-201J
you are aware that rhel3 is past its end of life
That is unless you are paying Red Hat a VERY large sum of CASH for "Extended Life Cycle"
rhel3 is also so old that it might never configure on any new hardware
and where did you get this " NVIDIA-LINUX-x86_64-1.0-7664-pkg2.run"
Version: 1.0-7664
Operating System: Linux AMD64
Release Date: June 1, 2005
the current Quadro fx driver is 275.21
seeing as you must have a LONG term support contract for any kind of support on rhel3
ask red hat http://www.redhat.com/support/
ps
ignore ALL posts using "yum", yum was not used in rhel3
was added to later versions of rhel4 and is used in rhel5 & 6
one monitor is working fine but the display is not coming on other monitor. I guess no problem in monitor because i swapped the cable to check the individual monitor. When i try to install the new driver its giving GCC-VERSION-CHECK while installing.
And i do not think i have to install the new driver because it has already one. What should i do to configure the dual monitor. Do i have to edit any configuration file.
My system configuration details are below. Thanks in advance for your kind help.

You posted this same question in another forum. Don't post the same question more than once, and don't hijack someone elses thread.
Actually this problem is not yet solved , me and premkumar are trying to resolve the same issue. So i just want to give more information to get help from LQ.

Thanks,

Regardless, you posted your same question more than once, which is against LQ rules. And thread-hijacking (i.e. posting your question in someone elses thread), is also not a good thing, but I don't think it applies here. I'm sorry, but the odds of you and premkumar being different people are astounding. Did you read what "both of you" posted?

BOTH OF YOU using EXACTLY the same version of RedHat, same version (and file name) nVidia driver, same card, with the EXACT same BIOS level, part number, and serial number??? Really????? Having two separate accounts is not a good thing either....
