changing the desktop manager


I have a kernel 2.6.9-15 and it is a Red HAt distro. Can I change the desktop to fluxbox or something lighter ...It alredy has gnome and kde. I wish to try out something different without changing the distro ....Am I out of my mind or is it possible ? Plz guide me thanks

You can in my experience install as many desktop environments as you like. Try enlightenment, black box and fluxbox. If you are serious about a light weight system try installing and configuring gxine and xmms to fit all your multi media needs, abiword is also a good small app. Alot of apps are reliant on the gnome and kde libraries so will run slowly on an old system anyway. Have fun.
