Lindows and Linspire (same OS, change of name) both will normally start with the KDE GUI.
It is possible to run it in a console. We need to remember Lindows/Linspire is designed not to confuse people who switch from Microsoft Windows, most of whom would not know much (if anything) about a command line.
Therefore KDE will normally start automatically... and should present you with a login box for root (which they call Administrator) and whatever users you have set up.
This is similar to Lycoris (which changed its name from Redmond Linux) and Xandros, both of which try and make it simpler for Windows users to convert to Linux. There are other "conversion" distros also.
