I understand your good intentions, but seems horrible what can be searched here is a bit misleading title. I tought you were unhappy with here, which is LQ.
On your concern, when I searched for my own name, all articles I found were either something I published myself, about something I posted or wrote, or things written about which had appeared before.
It seems just smart information harvesting, no information Google wouldn't put up, but I have to admit it very easy to find a lot of information quickly.

Weird sorting algorithm. Posts I made to Usenet in the 90s are very prominent in the search results for my name. And the top hit is the Myspace page that I'd forgotten I even had.
So I see that it searches the larger social networking sites, and Google Groups.

That is what my computer tells me when the NIS connection is lost: You don't exist, go away!

If I don't exist, then who is that ugly ****er looking out at me from a mirror? And if I don't exist, what is he staring at? Aah, deep philosophical ruminations, what?

I wouldnt say that. There a quite a few people that never use real names on the internet all, and some of them are _very_ accomplished.

Can't believe that. Many entries in pipl are about published articles in newspapers, blogs, internet, or about publications made by a person himself. Have you ever heard about someone not using his real name on LinkedIn? Or publishing in IEEE transactions using an alias?
Don't think so.

Yes, more than once. I know one person who uses made up names based on the username they alwasy use on the net. To use my username as an exmple, it would be something like Cassie C. Adenueve.

C'mon. I do have a second personality on Internet where I don't want to use my real name, and don't want to mix my professional life with strictly personal. But you can't imagine someone putting his resume on LinkedIn (on anywhere else for that matter) for any professional purposes not under his own name. I am talking about senior professionals at the executive level, not about construction workers or housewives.
No disrespect intended mentioning those two professions. But it is a different level. If I would google the CEO of our company and I would not find him that would be something strange. Not one single newspaper article? No one citing him?
