Post Quality British programming....Gone.

Rant and a poll:

[rant]
I miss the good ol' British Comedies I used to be able to see. Shame on the BBC-America for showing nothing but sheer crap these days. Top Gear? FEH!!! Ramsey's F-Word/Kitchen, You are what you eat......!!!! ARRGGH!! When the hell did BBC-America become so f-ing LAME!?

The only semi-decent show on is the Graham Norton Show. Still, not enough though. Other than also watching the news (which is still better than FOX (actually, ANYTHING is better than FOX)), the BBC just kinda sucks now.. *sigh*.
[/rant]

Anyways what is your all time favorite British comedies? I like the Blackadder series, and Are you being served? And of course the obligatory Monty Python's Flying Circus, and Mr. Bean.

I also may have missed some others, so specify.

Top Gear rules.

Of the poll, Mr Bean's the only one I've ever watched to any extent. All these things are before my time though. I've caught episodes of Dad's Army occasionally, and it's pretty good.

Oh but the list goes on. Maybe Top Gear isn't that bad compared to: Antiques Roadshow, How clean is your house, Cash in the attic, UGH!! Seriously, who let all this crap get on!? The only slight redeeming factor is that every-now-and-then there is a good movie shown Sunday nights on BBC-America. I finally saw the movie Arthur (starring the Late Dudley Moore). I kept hearing about that movie, but never actually seen it until now. Pretty decent Brit-flick.

Right now the Graham Norton Show is on, finally something half-way decent, since before that it was some retarded show called "Demons" Pff! Then all these other un-interesting drama/thrillers, H3X? What the f.....!?

Of course all these shows I mentioned are before my time too, but still most of it beats the hell out of whats on these days. Seriously. I can't even see the British version of The Office. I saw one ep. of the US version, and no reason to watch another. I am still holding out for the UK version, hoping it is much better.

I would love to see re-runs of The Benny Hill Show. Theres something BBC-America could be showing. I also can't believe I forgot about Chef!, and Red-Dwarf. This is also the second time someone mentioned Dad's Army, so I will have to check that out.

There was another British comedy, I don't remember the name but I saw it while flipping through channels and it was playing on a channel called "Bridges" *shrug*. Anyways, the show was about an English teacher and he has a class full of foreigners that are learning English. If anyone knows the name of it tell me, cause I can't remember it now, but it had some funny moments.

Can we, as a forum, make our own TV network? Can we make it totally oblivious to the notion that people have emotions that may or may not be extremely sensitive to certain topics aired over that network?

Even better is if we could do it over the 'net, kind of like hulu, but not playing the same crap you can watch on TV.

I think it would be right awesome to have a similar setup to what modern TV came up with (I do enjoy the interface, just not the majority of information the interface will make available to me), but with a REAL twist to it..

and by REAL twist, I mean.. "It's real, ya'll! These two argumentative individuals walked in off the street and decided to say, "F*** the mainstream media, the FED, and Barack "I'll give you money if you'll give me corruption" Obama", and we condone those sort of statements here, in fact, we condone ALL statements. NOTE: If you suck, and we hate you, you will not be brought back on the show!"

I think it was "Mind Your Language" but I never saw it. I vote for one that is not on the list - "Till Death Do Us Part" I also liked Spike Milligan

"Dad's Army" and "Only Fools and Horses".
If that poll is supposed to be multi-choice, it isn't.

"Coupling" would rate high. I used to like "Bottom" but after watching a rerun a few years ago, I felt it had aged terribly.

And I think the only good "Top Gear" episode is the one where Mr Jeremy gets run over by a truck. I'm working hard on the script. And on the truck driving license.

Father Ted and Blackadder. There are places that you can watch the original The Office. I won't link to them as the legality of the sites is questionable. Don't Amazon show programs?

Yes, I realized my mistake now. And I can't go back and edit the poll. Perhaps this can be another suggestion under the suggestions & feedback forum. I think a poll should be able to be slightly altered at least 24-48 hours after the inital post. Hrmm...

Since the question is "What is your favorite British comedy?" then the poll being single-choice is correct.
