Either that, or use Compiz and turn alpha blurring on...from the looks of it you have hardware compositing, so it should just be a matter of tweaking the setting in ccsm.
I like transparency on my Terminals, so when I am following a tutorial of some kind, I can read through it and find out what I need to type without switching windows all the time.
@smeezekitty: Personally, I like the black look, but I do agree. Too much black does make it harder to read and can make it ugly. However, it makes some desktops look slick and clean if you don't use too much. I use a black based theme with a more greyish look to my windows.
